TAKE THE FIRST STEP TO BECOMING A VOLUNTEER

Join our Mission to Empower Waymakers!

Below are just some of the many ways you can volunteer with us…

  • Celebrate new Waymaker arrivals by serving at You Belong Welcome Picnics and community events. You can join a team of volunteers that visit newly settled families by welcome them into their new home and neighbourhood.

  • Show that you care and offer your support through regular home visits.

  • Become a home Tutor and take the classroom into a Waymnakers home. We are always looking for volunteers to provide ESL and other educational support to Waymakers who, for varying reasons, cannot attend educational classes and other community run programs.

  • Our Learner Driver Mentors are the best! They equip Waymakers with safe driving skills, patiently preparing them to pass their Open License test. These amazing volunteers are essential to ensuring we have safe roads and pave the way for new found independence and opportunities for women other Waymakers that need driving support.

  • Calling all Teachers and helpers! Whether you are a qualified ESL teacher or simply willing to help assist in the classroom, our English and Language Exchange programs are always looking for new volunteers to equip new Waymakers with vital language proficiency.

  • Sponsor a refugee family and form a Community Supporter Group (CSG). Have you heard about the exciting new Community Refugee Integration Sponsorship Pilot (CRISP) program? A group of five or more adult CSG volunteers provide 12 months of practical hands-on support to a refugee Waymaker household from their date of arrival in Australia. CSGs can be based in a community anywhere in Australia, provided they can demonstrate capacity to provide appropriate support to a refugee Waymaker household within that community.

  • Do you have important skills or access to helpful knowledge that you are willing to share with Waymakers? We often host free community events where guest presenters offer professional advice, support and training to the Waymaker community.

  • Fundraise Your Way and activate collective genererosity for Waymaker empowerment.

Spearhead your own fundraising activities. Whether it's running a triathlon, organising a charity bake sale, shaving your precious hair, or dedicating a birthday to our cause, your efforts are crucial. Explore other possibilities like hosting a community event, conducting an online crowdfunding campaign that sponsoring one of your “bucket list” adventures. You could even a host virtual talent show — anybody up for a little Karaoke?

Discover how your initiative can ignite a wave of support and make a real difference. We're here to guide and support your fundraising journey, turning your innovative ideas into empowering actions for Waymakers.

  • Represent and recruit campaign participants as a “Move2Belong Ambassador!” Each year You Belong hosts the Move2Belong fundraising challenge and awareness campaign, highlighting the global refugee crisis and the work that You Belong is doing to welcome and empower Waymakers here in Australia and around the world.

  • Become a You Belong Speaker, Podcaster or Storyteller! Do you love sharing stories and inspiring others to champion diversity and create a more inclusive and empowering society? We are looking for communicators willing to make presentations in schools, workplaces, churches, and other community interest groups. We are also looking for people with a variety of creative media and communication skills to inspire and inform through podcasts, videos, blog and social media posts, and other storytelling mediums.

It doesn’t take much to be a Good Neighbour!

Volunteers at You Belong are as diverse and dynamic as our communities, much like the good neighbours we all cherish. Just as a good neighbour is there when you need them, offering support in big and small ways, our volunteers are the backbone of our welcoming and supportive community. They bring their unique strengths, passions, and personalities, forming a rich tapestry that embodies the spirit of togetherness and mutual care. Whether it's lending a listening ear, sharing a skill, or simply being present, every volunteer is a vital part of our mission to empower Waymakers.
