Meet Kinda Flaha — Toowoomba’s Regional Lead

We are excited to share that Kinda Flaha is the new Toowoomba Regional Lead for You Belong

Kinda is a dynamic leader with a passion for community development and refugee empowerment.

Growing up in Syria, Kinda studied English as a second language since the age of 8, because of love of learning about different cultures and languages. She went on to obtain a Bachelors degree in English Literature and Arts and has used that knowledge to teach English to both children and adults in various roles.

During her time as an educator in Syria, she also coordinated language programs and community service initiatives. Kinda was the coordinator for one of the leading local institutes to teach languages — including English, Russian and Arabic. Her team also engaged in social impact activities such as painting primary school walls, renovating a local library garden, and social media campaigns promoting change and hope within Syria.

Sadly, the Syrian Civil War worsened and it was becoming increasingly dangerous to live in her town. Eventually, Kinda’s young family were forced to travel to Iraq as refugees. A few years later they were given a humanitarian visa to settle in Australia.

Today, Kinda has dreams of traveling the world to meet new people and experience different cultures. She also enjoys drawing, writing poetry and cooking.

On January 26, 2023 Kinda became an Australian citizen along with her Husband, Yamin and son, Ebrahim.
